On April 29, 2024. the final conference of the project “”Using geothermal energy for heating in the city of Karlovac – PREP4KaaGT-1″, 101” was held in Karlovac, which achieved the specific goal of the project, i.e. the arrangement of the well working area. Given that the arrangement of the well working area was successfully completed the next step would be the installation of an exploratory well. If this is not the beginning of the discovery of hot water in Karlovac, Karlovac mayor Damir Mandić pointed out with satisfaction, recalling the beginnings of the project that has been talked about for decades. The vision is that Karlovac and its 8 thousand users who currently use the services Geothermal heating in the future was also attended by the director of GeotermiKA, Matija Požar, as well as the Ambassador of Norway, Mr. E. Arne Bjørnstad, who pointed out that the project was co-financed with money from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway under the financial mechanism of the European Economic Area with national co-financing from the Republic of Croatia as part of the “Energy and Climate Change” program, and that the project holder is GeotermiKA, and the project partners were the City of Karlovac and ISOR from Iceland. They worked on the project for the past two years, starting on May 24. 2022 until April 30, 2024. years. The total value of the project is EUR 1,272,251.78, while grants were approved in the amount of EUR 801,962.52 or 63.034%, and the own co-financing is EUR 470,289.25.
